There is something truly special about the way our coastal community comes together, and few events capture that spirit quite like the Somers Arts Fair. Now in its 22nd year, this much-loved local tradition returns this Sunday, 26 October, transforming Somers Primary School into a vibrant showcase of art, food and community connection.
What began as a small school fundraiser has grown into one of the Peninsula’s most anticipated annual events, drawing artists, families and visitors from across the region. The fair celebrates the creativity and generosity that make our community unique, with all proceeds directly supporting Somers Primary School.
Wander through the main exhibition and discover works from talented local artists across painting, photography, sculpture and mixed media. Outside, the iconic totem poles and outdoor sculptures bring colour and life to the school grounds, creating a striking open-air gallery that reflects the Peninsula’s creative energy.
A highlight of the day is the sculpture auction, where guests can bid on an inspiring collection of pieces donated by local artists. Our very own Andrew Wright will have the honour of conducting the auction, helping raise important funds for the school and celebrating the community spirit that defines this event.
It is also a family favourite, with a dedicated children’s art section, interactive activities and plenty of delicious food and coffee on offer. Whether you are coming for the art, the atmosphere or simply to enjoy a relaxed day in the heart of Somers, it is the perfect way to spend a spring Sunday by the sea.
At The Coast, we are proud to be part of a community that celebrates creativity and connection in such a genuine way. Events like this remind us what makes the Mornington Peninsula so special — the people, the place and the shared passion for supporting one another.
